International Policies and Standards
This document serves as the primary regulatory and oversight framework for the work of the International Federation for Gold & Diamond. Through these standards, we aim to uphold the highest levels of professional integrity, absolute transparency, and protection for all parties across the global supply chain.
Ensuring Global Standards
Promoting Fair Trade
Commitment to International Laws
Combating Fraud and Monopolistic Practices
An integrated mechanism designed to ensure that all products and operations comply with the strict standards established by the International Federation, strengthening the industry’s reliability.
Setting Standards
We establish strict standards for quality and authenticity. These standards are reviewed regularly to keep pace with the latest global and technological developments in the sector.
Assessment and Oversight
We conduct periodic product inspections and provide accredited testing to verify gold purity and assess the quality and grading of diamonds with high accuracy.
Certification Issuance
We issue accredited certificates for compliant products. These certificates ensure reliability and confirm the true value of jewelry in international markets.
Continuous Monitoring
We continuously monitor compliance with established standards and take prompt action, including sanctions where necessary, in cases of non-compliance with approved policies to preserve market integrity.
Standards of Transparency and Institutional Integrity
The Federation believes that institutional integrity is the foundation of trust. For this reason, the following regulatory procedures are implemented:
Full Financial Disclosure
The regular publication of all financial and administrative information and data related to the Federation with full transparency for members.
Independent External Auditing
Commitment to appointing accredited and independent international auditing bodies and firms to review accounts and annual activities.
Comprehensive Periodic Reports
Issuing detailed quarterly reports that outline activities, achievements, and market conditions with accurate figures.
Complaint and Suggestion Mechanisms
Providing open and protected institutional communication channels for receiving feedback, violations, and complaints from relevant parties.
Anti-Smuggling and Anti-Corruption Policies
A strict strategic plan to combat illicit diamonds and suspicious transactions:
1. Continuous Customs Monitoring
Developing advanced technological monitoring systems and closely tracking global export and import movements across all border entry points.
2. Specialized Investigation Committees
Forming specialized security and technical teams to investigate violations promptly and cooperate with Interpol and local authorities.
3. Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Coordination
Building reciprocal strategic partnerships with financial regulatory bodies to ensure that the sector is not used for money laundering activities.
4. Strict Sanctions Framework
Imposing strict administrative and financial sanctions on parties that violate the Federation’s Charter, including membership withdrawal, license suspension, and legal action.
Requiring companies to use environmentally friendly technologies in mining operations and adopt responsible production practices that reduce negative environmental impacts. Additional privileges and incentives are granted to mines and companies that apply strict environmental sustainability standards and commit to preparing regular, transparent reports on carbon emissions, waste management, and natural resource consumption. Investment in modern recycling technologies, efficient water and energy use, and environmental rehabilitation programs for mining areas is also encouraged to ensure a balance between economic development and environmental protection for future generations.
This includes a legal obligation to rehabilitate and restore mining sites after extraction operations are completed, require companies to fund reforestation programs and projects, and protect biodiversity and ecosystems in affected areas—helping to reduce environmental harm and restore the natural balance in a sustainable manner.
Implementing advanced water-treatment technologies to reduce water and chemical pollution caused by mining operations, through the adoption of water purification and recycling systems, as well as modern technologies that minimize the leakage of harmful substances into the surrounding environment. Strict policies and standards must also be enforced to promote efficient water use during extraction activities, alongside continuous environmental monitoring to ensure the sustainable use of water resources, particularly in areas with limited water availability or high environmental sensitivity.
Supporting and financing initiatives for recycling gold and precious metals, while encouraging the jewelry industry to use a defined percentage of recycled materials in order to reduce pressure on mining operations.
